How To Use Your Credit Reports
Dear Ali,
The three main credit reporting agencies, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, just announced that everyone can access their free credit report, every week, for the next year. Previous to the COVID-19 situation, consumers could only view their free credit report once per year.
The provisions provided by the CARES Act protect consumers' credit, but you should still monitor your credit regularly.
Here's what you should be looking at: 1. Check for identity theft. If you notice accounts that do not belong to you on your credit report, you should dispute them.
2. Verify your information. Make sure that you address, employer, credit payment status, and all account information is correct.
3. Calculate your total debt. Keep in mind that your report may not include your most recent payments. You can access your free weekly credit report right here.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to help!
Sincerely,
