Protect Yourself from Spam & Phishing

From email to social media, the internet is an essential communication tool. Unfortunately, it's also popular among scammers and cybercriminals. To protect yourself, you should understand how to identify and avoid potentially dangerous content in your inbox, including spam and phishing attempts.

Spam

Irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent via the internet to a large number of recipients. Examples can be found in email, text messages, and phone calls.

Phishing

Pretending to be from reputable companies in order to fraudulently obtain an individual's personal information, such as passwords or banking information.

By simply clicking on a link or opening an email you can become a victim of fraud. So, always double check the email address and the website address before opening or clicking on any suspicious messages. It’s also important to be careful when utilizing public Wifi or hotspots, as scammers can use them to steal your information.
